B.O.W. Award for the Week of 9/15 - 9/21

1. What is the title of your blog? Mentoring Pastor’s Wives and Women in Ministry

2. What is your blog’s address? http://www.mentoringwomeninministry.blogspot.com/

3. Tell us about yourself. I had the privilege of being raised in a Christian home (not a pastor’s home) and was in church whenever the doors were open. I accepted Jesus at the age of 5 and felt God “call” me into ministry as a teenager. I attended CBC and upon graduation married the love of my life. We have been in ministry for 25 years. I have been our music pastor and youth pastor in the churches we have pastured. It has been in my heart since I first entered ministry to have a place where the pastor’s wife and woman in ministry could receive support and encouragement. For so long we women have put a wall around us, I believe to protect us from hurt, but it has kept us from relationships with each other. I truly believe God desires us to open up to each other to receive strength from each other, and that is why I have developed “Mentoring Women in Ministry.” As women in ministry who have been in the trenches a while I believe we need to encourage and help develop the generations coming after us. We should not be “standoffish” but be a part of the lives of the younger generation. We are to leave a legacy that they desire to follow. They want to know our story…so let’s tell them.

4. What do you blog about the most? Mostly about what God is teaching me…whether it is on my spiritual journey, my journey as a mom, or my journey as a wife.

5. Do you have any other blogs that you write or co-write? I put some of the things I write about on my myspace.  www.myspace.com/cherylturnbull  The focus of both of these is to connect with other women in ministry and friends

6. When did you start blogging? A little over a year ago I guess.

7. What or who prompted you to start blogging? As I stated previously I believe we are to be a part of the lives of the younger generation…they are blogging, and are on myspace and facebook, and if we are going to connect we better get on board, or lose the opportunity to reach them.

8. How did you learn about Assembly of God Blogs? I did a search and ran across it.

9. What has blessed you the most about Assembly of God Blogs? There are so many you can forget your time reading them all, but I love reading what other people have to say. I truly enjoy all the various information that is out there. If we are smart we can glean from each other.

10. Is there anything that you would like to add? I think this AssemblyofGodblogs was an excellent idea…keep up the great work!

Cheryl's blog was nominated by Erika at A Piece of Candied Ginger for Your Mind.  Erika wrote:

I want to nominate Cheryl Turnbull at Mentoring Women in Ministry. I have been reading her blog and it has blessed me so much. To be honest, looking at her picture and reading her short bio I felt like such a failure at first. Growing up in the A/G and knowing that God called me to ministry shaped a lot of my perceptions and mindsets. She looks like the perfect picture of what I wanted to shape myself into being when I was in bible college. The pretty pastor's wife with the great kids and serving the Lord and being able to whip out a scripture and a casserole in no time flat. Although my husband and I love the ministries we do and we minister on a daily basis, my life as a christian Donna Reed as I imagined it is not happening. I'm much too "gingery"! Cheryl's blog shows her heart and her life which reminds me to not waste my time with the superficial pressures how a woman in ministry is portrayed, but to go beyond that and keep my focus where it needs to truly be, God's heart for what He specifically made me responsible for.

Mentoring Pastor's Wives has blessed me because it is more than just a resource for ministry. This is a real woman minister sharing life with countless women all over the world. It's a vulnerable place to be, and Cheryl does it with such grace that it blesses my life. It is easy to look at a pastor's wife and think that she has it all together with every hair in place and her writings take us beyond that to the heart of God for this special place of ministry that He created for this time. Thank you, Cheryl, for sharing with us.
Thank you Erika for your awesome nomination!

Updates & B.O.W. Award for the Week of 8/25-8/31

A/G Blogs Recent Updates/News:  1.) First names and States are now listed along each blog in the Alphabetical (A-Z) Genre.  2.) There is a new search feature found in the right hand side bar.  Here you can search for blogs by title or subject. (Search results appear at the top of the page.) Aaron from "Iron Sharpens Iron" gave this GREAT idea/ suggestion.  This is what he wrote about the new search feature once it was up... "I tried the search and it's awesome!!! You can connect the search through the blogs. So if you want to look up a subject you'll find all kinds of stuff. Wow this is way better than I thought! Yippeeeeeee!!!!!!!!:-)"  Thanks Aaron for your idea and comments!! Do you have an idea/suggestion for this network site?  Send it to here.   3.)  The scrolling feed reader (in the left hand sidebar) is now longer, and allows you to view more recent posts at a time.  With most browsers, it will stop moving when you move your mouse over the list.   4.) Assembly of God Blogs is now INTERNATIONAL!  Praise the Lord.  We have had three blogs for some time now from Mexico.  That in and of itself is pretty cool.  This past week we added our first overseas blog, from Indonesia.  You will find this blog listed in the "New" genre.  5.) I was hoping the search feature would work with the location as well, but that doesn't seem to be working.  So, I am going ahead and adding the "Location" genre (USA pictured button above).  I'm slowly working on it.  This will take a lot of copying/ pasting and linking.  Thanks for your patience.  I do all this in hopes it will be used.  PLEASE utilize this site, it's here for YOU.

B.O.W. Award for the Week of 8/18-8/24

1. What is the title of your blog?
Beloved Mama AND Beloved Mama Prays

2. What is your blog’s address?
http://belovedmama.blogspot.com/ AND http://belovedmamaprays.blogspot.com/

3. Tell us about yourself.
My name is Christelle. I currently live in the Northwest where my husband teaches high school history and coaches soccer at a Christian school while I take classes on the side, attend playgroup with my toddler, attend soccer practices with my 2 older boys, and try to stay as involved as I can in their lives. At this time in my life, my family is my number 1 priority and I don't want to ever regret not spending enough time with them. I am originally from San Diego, CA and had the opportunity to work at my home church for 5 years first as a ministries assistant, Women's Ministries Director and was honored to spend a year as a sectional WM's director just before moving to the NW. I absolutely loved using my creative giftings during that time in my life. I just returned from a long road trip visiting friends and family in the midwest. During the trip, we made a brief stop at North Central Bible College: the place where I met the love of my life. It was fun to take a trip back on memory lane and share our experiences with our boys. Hubby is an MK from Nairobi, Kenya where his parents taught at the Bible College. WE are fairly certain that we were drawn to each other first because of our love for warm weather (San Diego & Kenya!) My family is the best gift God could have ever given me!

4. What do you blog about the most?
I tend to blog all over the place. Sometimes I blog my conversations with God, other times, I might tell a story about one of my boys or husband, other times I might talk about a family adventure. Sometimes, I even hold a PARTY blogger style!

5. Do you have any other blogs that you write or co-write?
After feeling a nudge of the spirit to make my blog more about Christ, I started a prayer blog. I had realized that many ladies were developing a sense of community with their bloggy buds and many had prayed for each other through big and small storms. I asked a team of ladies to join me in praying for requests that come our way- these ladies represent many denominations and they are committed to praying for the needs of others.

6. When did you start blogging?
I've always been a journal writer. When myspace became huge, I started blogging through them, but officially started Beloved Mama exactly one year ago August!

7. What or who prompted you to start blogging?
I felt God speaking to my heart to tell my story. When I first started, I didn't realize the community that people had developed through the bloggy world- discovering this has inspired me to continue in blogging.

8. How did you learn about Assembly of God Blogs?
I saw several of Sharon's postings during the blog revelation at General Council. I think I then popped over to her blog and posted some comments. She then told me about her vision for starting a brand new Blog Ring and I've been a member since the beginning! I love that she is bringing us all together in this way. The blog ring is creating unity amongst AGers. My heart is for community amongst not only AGers but all Christians. The blogosphere has become an amazing avenue for bringing us all together.

9. What has blessed you the most about Assembly of God Blogs?
The sense of community, meeting other ladies who have gone through similar trials, meeting others who I can rejoice with. I am so blessed to have met some amazing Assemblies of God bloggers who are willing to share their hearts. I am also blessed that many have prayed for me and have allowed me to pray for them.

10. Is there anything that you would like to add?
Praise God for the unity that is being created through this amazing Blog Ring!

The fact that the site promotes prayer and updates frequent prayer requests is such a blessing!  The internet is deemed as having so many negatives; but through ministries like A/G blogs we are able not only to shine our lights, but also to equip the saints and become a collective voice and petition before God.  I commend her site for unifying and encouraging the body of Christ to join together in a cord of prayer!  I believe it was Spirit led and IS making a difference."

Thank you Jenni for your nomination!

I didn't know about her blog until i did my "Is anybody really out there?" post, and she commented, and said she reads my blog often. That brought hers to my attention, and I started reading hers. I want to nominate her to encourage her that she too can make a difference in her sphere of influence.

B.O.W. Award for the Week of 8/4 - 8/10

1.  What is the title of your blog?
Finding Treasures in Jars of Clay

2.  What is your blog's address?

3.  Tell us about yourself.
My name is Dorinda.  My family and I live in Razorback country, the beautiful state of Arkansas, and yes, we are die hard Razorback fans.

With three children still at home, I would hve to say that one of my favorite hobbies is watching my kids participate in their many sports.  I also love to curl up with any Dekker book or some other book by awesome authors.

My greatest accomplishment is getting to spend my life with the love of my life and my four kids and two beautiful granddaughters.  God is so good to me!

4.  What do you blog about the most?
I think I blog mostly about my life experiences of learning to lean on my Savior.  Life with my family is fun, hilarious, and sometimes trying- but God is always faithful.  His Word is Truth and full of treasure!  I love finding treasure to put in this "jar of clay" and sharing it with others.

5.  Do you have any other blogs that you write or co-write?
Well, if you count being the number one fan of my husband's blog (www.pastorrustysblog.blogspot.com), yes.  Other than that, no.

6.  When did you start blogging?
I started blogging last fall (Sept 2007).  My goal was to connect with the ladies of our church with an online Bible study.  That kind of flopped.  I had the most fun when I was blogging from my heart, you know, just life "stuff".  Then I decided to do just that, and from there it got in my blood.
7.  What or who prompted you to start blogging?
My oldest daughter started a blog about their family's China adoption journey. (www.thejourneytomiagrace.blogspot.com)  While traveling in China with them to bring our precious Mia home, I sent emails home about our experiences.  I guess, her blog, my love for telling stories, and wanting to connect with ladies in our church in an on-line setting, all added up to the idea of a blog.

8.  How did you learn about Assembly of God Blogs?
Wow, that is a good question.  I think I first saw the link from my college buddy's blog - www.marybethsbackforty.blogspot.com

9.  What has blessed you the most about Assembly of God Blogs?
I have enjoyed reading other ministry blogs.  It can almost be addictive.  But, the biggest blessing is meeting other A/G sisters- my bloggy friends.  I have re-connected with friends from my college days and have made some new treasures of friends.

Dorinda's blog was nominated by Christelle @ Beloved MaMa.

Christelle wrote:

Dorinda is an amazing woman of God. Her blog is truly anointed. She shares stories and journals that inspire me to want to seek God with all my heart. It is obvious that both she and her husband are incredible leader of their church to have inspired both those on their ministry team and within their church body to seek God with all their hearts. She has become a prayer warrior for my family and for many others in her life. I have grown to consider her a bloggy soul sister and hope to meet her in person one day.

Thank you Christelle for your nomination!

The growth of the AG blogs in this short of a time is amazing! It has been a blessing to be the recipient of her hard work and click through and check out the blogs on the site and see what and who is out there. There is some great reading to be found on the AG blogs, not to mention I’ve made a few new blogging friends.

10. Is there anything that you would like to add? Thank you for giving me the B.O.W. Award. I am surprised and honored. As I mentioned before, I always journaled regularly before blogging became in vogue. I will always blog even if it some day isn’t as fashionable. I was writing even when nobody was reading, but the fact that anyone else besides me does read and is blessed is always an incredible thing for which I’m ever grateful.

After a feature on CWO, Beloved mama came to my blog site and left me a comment about the AG Blog ring. http://belovedmama.blogspot.com/

9. What has blessed you the most about Assembly of God Blogs?

Connecting with others of the same faith. It encourages me to see how God is using other AG bloggers in cyberspace. For so long the internet has been used for evil but I am seeing how God is turning that around and using our sites to spread His good news!

10. Is there anything that you would like to add?

Don’t get caught up in numbers on the little stat counters…if just one person comes across your blog and hears the message of truth, it is worth it all. We can change the world “one at a time”. Keep sharing Gods light to our darken world!

Go visit Laurie, and take a look around her blog.  Comment, and give her a congratulations!
Be sure to come back often, and check out the "New" Assembly of God Blogs, and the new posts (constantly updated in the left sidebar!).  The next B.O.W. Award will be announced next Monday.
