Share the Burden

It's easy to get caught up in our own little world, and put others to the side. Christians are instructed to 'share other people's burdens'. I know many people read this blog. I want you to help share the burden of an Assembly of God Pastor!

If you're still reading, that's a good sign. You didn't "turn me off" or "tune me out". Good!

I want to bring to your attention, once again, First Assembly of God in Columbus, Indiana. This church has suffered a substantial loss due to record flooding! Bottom line, they need help! From what I've gathered, insurance will cover the building structure, but not the contents. Folks, that's thousands upon thousands of dollars of dollars needed to get the church functionable! Seating, computers, Sunday School materials, you name it, they need it!

So, do you want to "Share the Burden"? (After all, it's what we're instructed to do.) Here are some ideas...
1. DONATE MONEY this can be online or by check
a. Online: Go to http://columbusfirstassembly.org/ and click the online giving buttonin the bottom left corner. Remember to mark it “Flood Fund”
b. By Check: First Assembly of GodAttn: Rev. Andreason2100 10th St.Columbus, IN 47201
2. SEND SUPPLIES
3. SEND A TEAM TO HELP RE-BUILD/CLEAN-UP
4. PRAY
5. COMMENT on his blog
6. WHAT THE LORD LEADS YOU TO DO!

To a church that literally has not much more than it's foundation left (literally and figuratively- in Christ) every little bit will help! Stop and think of all the Lord has blessed you, and your church with. Do you have an office, with walls? Pastor Andreason doesn't. Does your Kid's Church have puppets? First Assembly in Columbus doesn't. There is something you can do to Share the Burden!

Galatians 6: 1-3 (The Message) Live creatively, friends. If someone falls
intosin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself.
Youmight be needing forgiveness before the day's out. Stoop down and reach out
tothose who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ's law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived.

FYI: I say this, just so you know I am sharing the burden as well! Our church will be collecting an offering and sending them a check next week. There are several men in our church who have expressed interest in going there and assisting them during this time. I have let others know about this need. I am doing my part to share the burden! :0)

UPDATE (Comment) FROM PASTOR ANDREASEN...

Sharon,
National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) should cover a portion of our building...however, it does have a max amount of coverage. Doesn't look like that will cover the clean-up, restoration and rebuilding, and clearly not even all the contents.
Just wanted to clarify our situation to all the bloggers and readers of this ring.
We covet your prayers and we need the body of Christ to help share this overwhelming burden.
"With God, All things are possible."
Sincerely serving,
Pastor Don Andreasen
